With very deep sadness and regret the IJKA would like to inform all its members that Kato Shihan 9th Dan IJKA World Chief Instructor sadly passed away on the morning of Thursday 16th April 2020.
An inspiration to so many karateka throughout his long life he will be sadly missed by the worldwide karate community.
It was his wish that everyone celebrate his life and not mourn his passing. Please raise a glass and remember all the training and good times we had together. OSS
The worldwide IJKA karate family sends deepest condolence to Hideko, Sakura, Ryota and Milena at this difficult time.
Rest in peace Sensei.

Keeping Calm and Carrying On
Gichin Funakoshi the founder of Shotokan, penned 20 precepts as guiding principles for future karate generations to follow and #9 Karate is a life long pursuit drives us on to find ways to continue the journey in difficult circumstances.
Just like the Okinawans who trained in secret in the early formation days of karate, Worcester Shotokan Karate Club refuses to be beaten by the current and very important lockdown engulfing the UK and the rest of the world.
The club opened a virtual dojo on March 26th that matures with each passing session as Cameron Sensei develops training routines that suit small spaces and can be easily conveyed by on-line video.
When lockdown lifts the club will enjoy a seamless transition back to our real dojos.
